This special "Jerusalem City of Gold" comes signed by the artist, William Kendrick. He
has painted for nearly three-quarters of a century and at 92 he continues to be inspired
by the beauty surrounding him. He has been fortunate to live around the world: Europe,
North Africa and the Middle-East, always documenting the light that shines from above.
This light was particularly captivating in Jerusalem. Painting from life, he sat for a
month on the rooftop of an old hotel at Jaffa Gate in 1994. He prayed through his paint
brush, rendering a luminous contemplative image. The warm tones and life of the Holy
City flow through his hand and pallet in this painting. As one collector noted, "Having
this image of Jerusalem in our home is like have a window looking out over the Holy
City."
